Songs for Heroes 2

UNTV channel 37 successfully staged on 30 June at the MOA Arena its second tribute to the fallen police personnel in what is known as Mamasapano clash early this year. The charity concert, dubbed “Songs for Heroes: Ang Mamamatay nang Dahil sa Iyo”, was able to raise 8 million pesos according to reports. Proceeds went to special fund agencies of the Philippine National Police and Armed Forces of the Philippines.

The PNP’s Special Action Force lost 44 of its elite personnel in Mamasapano, Maguindanao while in pursuit of terrorists to armed rebel groups manning the area. The planning and logistics blunders that led to this operation failure heightened political tensions in the capital and thwarted the ongoing peace negotiations with the rebels.

The first “Songs for Heroes” was held on 19 March also at the MOA Arena, and was able to raise 6 million pesos.

Anyway, I was there and here are some images of the performances.
